The Most Economical Solution for the Automatic Production of Plate Parts that Require Punching, Marking, Contouring, and Cutting-to-Length!
Peddinghaus engineering has successfully pioneered the concept of combining plate punching, plasma cutting, shearing, and marking in one CNC system for the production of heavy plates. The success of the approach to positioning, punching, marking, and plasma cutting or shearing of heavy stock size plates evolves around the unique Peddimat roller feed drive and measuring system.
The Peddimat roller feed drive and measuring system was pioneered by Peddinghaus for the efficient processing of plates and structural steel. The ability of the Peddimat system to effectively process heavy material that is frequently distorted is what makes this positioning and measuring system ideally suited for the application of heavy plate.
Conventional carriage type positioning systems experience difficulties in accurately holding large, heavy stock plates that are used to punch nested parts. During the punching operation, stresses are induced into the plate that can additionally cause the material to move relative to the carriage location, which creates accuracy problems.
The Peddimat roller feed drive and measuring system is ideally suited to process heavy plates, as it does not require a carriage or wagon to position and measure the stock plate. Any movement in the plate during punching is automatically sensed and reflected in subsequent positioning moves.
Typically, plates up to 1 ¼" (32mm) in thickness can be processed all in one CNC system. This concept eliminates material handling between processes, as raw material is loaded on the input side and finished parts are automatically unloaded on the discharge side. The process of burning to size at one location and struggling to remove the finished blanks from the skeleton just to be handled again through a punch or drill is totally eliminated, as finished parts are delivered in a continuous flow to the discharge side of the system.
This 177 (160 metric) ton punching system features a triple tool arrangement that permits up to three different hole sizes to be punched without a tool change. This versatile tooling head is also capable of punching up to three holes simultaneously, which accelerates this system's productivity over alternative methods.
The unique unloading system facilitates the removal of finished parts in a continuous flow without having to physically remove the parts from the machine system. This concept greatly reduces the material handling, as raw material is loaded on the input side of the system and finished parts are automatically discharged on the exit side of the line. The FPB system does not require an operator to physically remove blanks from the skeleton and then to move them to the punching and marking operations.
The entire plasma cutting is located at one lineal position within the line. This design permits the integration of an exhaust extraction system for the efficient removal of particulate matter that is generated during the plasma cutting operation.
The FPB and FPS product lines are both available with optional automatic loading systems that accommodate a full range of stock material from flat bar to full width plates.
The FPB-1500/3 punching and plasma cutting system, like all CNC products produced by Peddinghaus Corporation, features the Peddimat Programming System, which simplifies the programming task. For those applications where part nesting at multiple levels is advantageous complete with material optimization, Peddinghaus Corporation offers Peddi-Nest. Both programs are capable of accepting a DXF file format for integration with an existing CAD system.
